MacLean-Fogg is thrilled to be a Platinum Sponsor of the 2019 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Clean Snowmobile Challenge (CSC). This collegiate engineering design competition provides its participants with the opportunity to strengthen their skills by reengineering an existing snowmobile to enhance environmental performance. The modified snowmobiles then go on to compete in an array of events including emissions, noise, fuel economy/endurance, acceleration, handling, static display, cold start and design.

The winner of the competition is awarded the MacLean-Fogg Cup which is a trophy equivalent to and inspired by the NHL Stanley Cup. Names of all winning schools since the competition’s inception are immortalized on the Cup which is interchanged annually to the winning school. In addition to the possession of the Cup, the winning team also receives a $1,000 prize from MacLean-Fogg. MacLean-Fogg has been a proud supporter of the SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge since 2014 and has enabled us to connect with the best and brightest engineers of tomorrow.

The SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge is more than just a competition, it’s an event where college students come together to learn, collaborate, be creative and have the chance to discover new ideas/innovations.  It’s a true test of their engineering knowledge and their ability to think outside the box to improve the way things are being done today.

Dave Lomasney, MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions President, stated, “Our involvement with the SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge provides us with an opportunity to meet with top engineering students and introduce them to MacLean-Fogg’s commitment to operational excellence.”

Kyle Kapa, Senior Applications Engineer at McLean-Fogg Components Solutions, stated, “The SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge represents an opportunity for MacLean-Fogg to engage with some of the brightest young minds in the engineering world. The students participating in the challenge represent a small group of hands on engineers who are gaining real world experience in bringing a project from a conceptual design, through testing and validation. Not only does the event give MacLean-Fogg the ability to start a relationship with these students for career opportunities, but it also creates brand recognition for possible future customers.”

Jay Meldrum, Executive Director of the Keweenaw Research Center of Michigan Tech, commented, “Michigan Tech is honored to have MacLean-Fogg become the premier sponsor of the SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge. Their sponsorship of the MacLean-Fogg Cup exemplifies this support and will provide a lasting impression on the students.”
